She won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Gibbs is a woman of many talents, juggling her careers as a writer, singer, comedian, and actress. But what shot her to fame was definitely her role as Florence Johnston on The Jeffersons.
She appeared at the 2024 Emmy Awards red carpet event. She wore a gorgeous black dress that was covered in sparkles and embellished along the edges with white jewels. She had her short hair styled out of her face to show off her subtle makeup and gorgeous jewelry.
Gibbs accompanied Abbott Elementary writer and actor Quinta Brunson on-stage to present the Award for Supporting Actress in a Limited Anthology Series or Movie. The award was won by Niecy Nash-Betts.
When the audience saw Gibbs making her way onto the stage to present the award, they began cheering immediately. Of course, the glimpse of a living legend was enough to make the crowd go crazy! The actress looks wonderful at 92 years old and is still well loved by crowds!
But no one was as excited and awed as her Quinta Brunson who was ecstatic to have the opportunity to be able to present the award next to a living Hollywood legend!
Brunson made sure she let everyone know how special Gibbs was. She described her career as one that has “literally spanned decades.” She pointed out how Gibbs is still active in the industry, and routinely outpaces even those a third her age with how busy her roster usually is.
Gibbs took the opportunity to make a joke. She said, “That’s easy, baby: the wage gap,” she joked, saying she would need to work “20 more years” before she could think about retirement. before she could retire. She also added that perhaps Brunson could write a role for her on Abbott Elementary, adding a quip saying “Black don’t crack!”’

But getting Gibbs to star on the show would be a feat in itself because of how busy her schedule already looked. Gibbs’ first role was an uncredited one in 1968’s Yours, Mine and Ours. She has since then been active in the industry. She has since then been active by appearing in numerous films and television shows.
